Restore the Music – key messages development & website copy
“Anita’s work around our key messages was critical in helping Restore the Music to finally arrive at an articulate and precise detailing of who we are, what we do, and why it matters. Her work ethic is top-level, she will pursue the heart of the subject with great attention to detail, until she arrives at full and thorough messaging that is clear, engaging, and on-brand. The cost of Anita’s service is negligible in comparison to the value she delivers. I could not recommend her more highly.” Polly Stepan Moore, CEO, Restore the Music.
Restore the Music’s CEO, Polly, was looking for help to clearly communicate the purpose and unique approach of this music education charity. Over a three-month period, Anita worked with the team to develop key messages that would resonate clearly with their main target audiences.
Restore the Music is a music education charity with a difference. In fact, many differences. It raises money largely from high-net-worth individuals. It then invests these funds in state school music departments in areas of high economic deprivation, providing funding for diverse and relevant musical instruments. By placing musical instruments in the hands of thousands of young people the charity helps them to unlock their own potential: igniting self-belief and confidence, voice and identity, imagination and ambition.
Polly felt that Restore the Music’s website and pitch decks weren’t really communicating the uniqueness of their model and their purpose. Anita ran workshops with the two ‘employees’ of the charity – Polly, and Hannah Mayblin, Programme Administrator – to explore the organisation’s audiences needs and interests, what messages and type of language would appeal to them, and what the organisation needed to communicate. The result was a set of draft key messages. After testing with an ‘ideal customer’ these were adapted and developed into a key messages framework. This now underpins all of Restore the Music’s communications, from presentations to potential investors, to social media communications.
